Our Mission

We believe that in a post pandemic and George Floyd world, digital equity will either become a great equalizer, or divider for Minnesota’s most marginalized communities. Smart North’s mission is to drive digital equity and transform livability in MN.

Our Partners

We are executing our mission through three core pillars:

Driving Digital Equity

1

One of our key initiatives is setting up ‘Community Tech Hubs’ that provide grassroots access to 21st century tech skills training, mentorship and career pathways for better paying jobs and wealth creation opportunities for the youth, adults and small businesses in marginalized communities in MN.

Community Tech Hubs:

Enabling Smart and Resilient Communities

2

We are helping cities and communities across MN learn, evaluate and deploy smart and connected city solutions to build resiliency and digital services for a post pandemic 21st century digital life, work and economy.

  • Resilient Communities Project for the Towerside Innovation District, MSP, in partnership with U of MN
  • Workforce Innovation Tech Committee for Ramsey County

Thought Leadership and Innovation Showcase

3

We host an annual event during the Twin Cities Start-Up Week on ‘Future of our Cities and Communities‘ to connect thought leaders, projects, and the ecosystem around digital equity, 21st Century Technologies, and the community. These events represent an effort to connect independent thinkers with similar interests under the familiar goal of bettering the world through digital tech.
